There are many other restaurants located throughout
Dominica - those listed on this page are favorites of
the site developer
and are recommended.
When
visiting Dominica,
locating places on the island to eat can sometimes be
complicated until learning one's way around. Too,
don't expect to find eateries similar to what you know
in the US or Europe. Most restaurants here are
very small, often rustic and provide little in the way
of atmosphere... restaurant atmosphere here, however,
can be spectacular in the form of ocean, mountain and
rain-forest views and settings, and local flavor!
Most all establishments
take both EC and US dollars. Many also take credit and
debit cards; however, it is always good practice to
first inquire!
Note that there are only
three name brand "fast-food" restaurants on the island -
Kentucky Fried Chicken and Subway (Roseau & Portsmouth)
and Pizza Hut (Roseau).

SNACKETS
-
Located literally everywhere, snackets are
very small walk-up, drive-up
establishments / bars. They are Dominica's
version of fast-food restaurants! All of
Dominica's snacket owners are friendly and
will openly and eagerly serve their guests -
so, don't hesitate to check out a snacket!
Snackets are generally owned and operated by
a
sole proprietor and provide a variety of
"local food" also known as "provisions," as
well as drinks of many kinds including beer,
rum, water and pop.
Expect local food to include combinations of
fish (prepared in a variety of ways), fish
and goat waters (soups), grilled chicken,
green bananas, plantains, dashine and a host
of other locally grown vegetables, fruits
and ingredients. |
